JOB SUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

REPORTS TO: Principal

DEPARTMENT NAME: Exceptional Education

JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Provides specialized designed instruction to students that have an Individual Educational Program (IEP).

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
List, in the order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.

Job Responsibility 1:

Provides instructional supportsdirect services and consultation for students as indicated on Individual Educational Program (IEP). Ensures that students are in their least restrictive environment.

Job Responsibility 2:

Required to keep Individual Educational Programs (IEP’s) on assigned caseload in compliance in accordance with State and Federal laws governing services for students with disabilities.

Job Responsibility 3:

Schedules and facilitates IEP meetings, re-evaluation meetings, and manifestation determination meetings as needed to continue to be in compliance in accordance with State and Federal laws governing services for students with disabilities.

Job Responsibility 4:

Coordinates the delivery of services for students with disabilities with all itinerant providers i.e. (speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, nurse, etc.) to be in compliance with the Individual Educational Plan in accordance with State and Federal laws governing services for students with disabilities.

Job Responsibility 5:

Develops Functional Behavioral Assessment Behavioral Intervention Plans as needed or outlined in the Individual Educational Plan (IEP).

Job Responsibility 6:

Attends grade-level/content meetings to assist with planning and collaboration for instruction and meaningful inclusive service delivery.

Job Responsibility 7:

Participates in ongoing Professional Development activities.

Job Responsibility 8:

Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities. Creates a positive achievement-oriented learning environment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Requires current Special Education Tennessee Teachers License. (Comprehensive or Modified)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Three years’ teaching experience required.
