JOB TITLE: Security Manager
DEPARTMENT: Security
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Security
LOCATION: Bronx, NY
SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Security Director, the Security Manager will oversee the daily operation of the Security Department at a 30 unit families with children homeless shelter. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create and implement operational policies and procedures including but not limited to post assignments, efficiently and effectively intercept contraband and other unauthorized material at all access control points, effective use of the magnetometer, x-ray machine, hand-held scanning device, effective use of the video surveillance system, and duties and responsibilities of all personnel while inside the Security Operations Office.
Coordinate the administrative and logistical requirements for the Security Department at the site; i.e., order supplies for department, order uniforms, equipment, create weekly staff schedules and submit to the Director of Security, approve or disapprove vacation, and time-off requests based on the needs of the department. Administer progressive discipline and conduct interviews as needed
Under the direction of the Director, conduct thorough investigations regarding incidents, accidents, employee misconduct, and all crimes committed on the property by documenting information received from witnesses, reviewing video and gathering evidence.
Ensure that all critical job functions for SSO’s, House Managers, and Shift Supervisors are performed at the optimal level. Ensure that all staff are responding to emergencies, conducting fire drills, reporting incidents involving staff misconduct, policy / rule infractions, verbal disputes, physical altercations, making timely emergency notification to management, senior staff, Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Technicians (911), Department of Homeless Services, and completing required documentation and incident reports.
Ensure that 90-day probationary staff evaluations and annual evaluations are completed in a timely manner
Ensure that all staff members are following standard operating procedures: provide training as needed
Conduct daily inspections of all security systems, fire alarm control panel, p.a. system, magnetometer, x-ray machine, and video surveillance system and building
Ensure that incident reports are clear and concise and are filed electronically in computer data base
Delegate assignments to the Shift Supervisors, provide effective instructions and support, follow up to ensure that tasks and assignments meet department standards.
Review the electronic time keeping system, time sheets and sign in sheet, check for errors, and submit to HR in a timely manner for payroll processing.
Use Crisis Intervention when facilitating conflict resolution and mediation sessions involving residents and staff.
Ensure that all Safety Security Officers have valid Fire Guard, F-80 Certifications, First Aid CPR AED Certifications, and all required CARES training as specified by DHS
Attend all required training and participate in inter-departmental meetings
Motivate, counsel, and inspire team members to embrace the culture of professionalism
Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
NYS Security Guard license required. High school diploma required, Associates Degree preferred and at least three years of related security experience. Supervisory experience is required. Must have demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, crisis management, and knowledge of video surveillance and fire alarm systems. Knowledge of basic computer and software application required. Valid NYS driver’s license required. 24 hour on-call for emergencies.
