We offer the country’s largest and fastest growing used truck inventory for our customers to choose from. Ohio Truck Sales operates out of four offices – (3) in Sandusky, Ohio, and (1) large manufacturing facility in Clyde, Ohio with over 200 employees.
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Summary: The Purchasing Manager is a key member of the Supply Chain Organization and will be responsible to manage the day to day activities of the purchasing department to meet the needs of the production schedule and to meet/exceed customer requirements while obtaining company objectives for OTD and Inventory. You will establish policies and procedures and hold personnel accountable in the execution required to support Ohio Truck Sales operating plan. You will work closely with other individuals and disciplines within the organization and represent Supply Chain in cross functional teams while executing responsibilities for various buying, contract administration, and material management activities. In this role you will identify and develop new opportunities to add value and reduce costs. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated success in driving cost reductions, inventory management and supply chain improvements. In addition, familiarity with the operation principles of lean manufacturing, Kanban, 5S, and other continuous improvement programs would be helpful to drive out waste in our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of Purchasing including the management of procurement activities and works with the Buyer/Planners to coordinate timely delivery of materials
Evaluate and manage the Buyer/Planner team’s inventory availability while minimizing working capital
Manage the evaluation of part usage patterns to make decisions to control inventory while maintaining appropriate customer service levels.
DMAIC (Define, measure, analyze, improve and control) approach to excess and obsolete inventory
Negotiate with suppliers for materials, equipment, and supplies
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers
Responsible for accuracy of data as it relates to purchased items, including item creation, item maintenance, supplier maintenance, pricing, etc.
Manages supplier relationships and drives improvement in supplier performance related to on-time delivery, fill rates and errors, transfer cost improvements, and other measures
Responsible for Supplier Selection, New Supplier Approval and Supplier Relationships
Assists purchasing team with buying of materials and managing vendors when needed
Attend and participate on cross functional teams tasked with solving quality problems
Ensure compliance with standard policies, procedures, internal audit, and quality control processes, purchasing, process control, corrective and preventative action, and control of quality records
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Include:
A minimum of 5+ years of purchasing experience required
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Automotive or Commercial Vehicle experience is a plus
Experience with an ERP Implementation is plus
Compensation & Benefits:
$95,000 to $102,000 annually plus quarterly & annual bonuses
