Description: The Akron Zoo is looking for Program Engagement Staff. Core responsibilities include guiding students through the zoo while giving information about animal adaptations and presenting topic based information at stations throughout the Zoo. This position is a 20-25 hour a week position, working Monday-Friday. The Program Engagement Staff reports directly to the STEM and Curriculum Coordinator.Essential job functions:
Teach Zoo Conservation Education Programs
Guide teachers and students through the zoo, while sharing information in an engaging, theatrical manner
Play a character to present topic based information at stations throughout the zoo.
Requirements: The candidate for this position should have a high school diploma with some college preferred in the areas of science, education, or theater. The individual should be comfortable presenting in a fun and engaging manner (being silly for younger audiences).The Program Engagement Staff should be highly organized, outgoing, collaborative, strategic, independent, fun, creative, self-starter who is able to multi-task within a busy work environment. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong relationship building skills, and exceptional customer service skills.This is a temporary part time position (20-25 hours a week) working 6-8 weeks in the Fall of 2022.The Akron Zoo is a Drug-Free Workplace and an EOE.
