Personal Care Assistant

Job Description :
We are looking to hire personal care attendants (PCA). If hired, you will be working out of home. Below is some basic information on what the job(s) entail; please read this thoroughly before choosing to apply.
There are multiple shifts that we have daily. Shifts are either 2, 4, or 5 hours in length. You have the opportunity to work any combination of these shifts throughout the week based on current availability. The morning shift consists of showering, dressing, toileting. Lunch is mainly just toileting and helping us eat lunch. Dinner will consist of cooking, feeding and toileting. The night shift is just getting us ready for bed… brushing teeth, toileting and such. Things like cleaning, transportation for appointments, and organizing paperwork are scattered throughout all of the shifts, though at no particular regularity.
Contingent upon passing a background check and getting first aid and CPR certifications, you’ll be temporarily hired through the Right at Home homecare agency until you complete the tasks needed to become a state certified provider. We personally supplement what the agency will pay you. You’ll earn $17.25/hr until you get certified by the state, at which point you’ll make $23.04/hr. The entire process will likely take 30-60 days.
Another important aspect of the job is helping us care for our service dogs. We have extremely friendly and well-behaved black labs named Murdock & Schein. We’ll need you to help feed and toilet (including picking up poop) them as well as grooming occasionally. If you are uncomfortable with dogs, or caring for dogs, in any way, this job is not for you.
We require all of our PCAs to be physically able to do all of the shifts even if they are not scheduled for a certain shift (meaning they can lift us and are okay with performing all of the duties). The reason for this is, inevitably, we will need to find a substitute for a PCA who is sick or on vacation and we do not want to be limited in who we can ask. Do not let the lifting part scare you, we both only weigh 100-115 lbs and have had many “small” female PCAs lift us just fine.
Being a PCA is a unique job to have and may take a while to get the routine down, but it will be a fun and rewarding job if you let it be. Dylan has been managing PCAs for 24 years and Allison has 16 years under her belt, so you are in good hands!
If you are still interested in the position, We’d like to set up an interview with you. We like to schedule interviews as soon as possible, so please let us know your availability. For your scheduling purposes, the interview should last around 30 minutes. Once we have an interview set up we will e-mail you with address and contact information. If you do get an interview scheduled and you change your mind, at least let us know that you’re not coming. We’ve had numerous no-shows in the past and it’s quite aggravating.
Finally, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
