Job Description :
Summary of Duties: Responsibilities include greeting customers, registering patients, collecting copayments and account balances and balancing nightly cash drawer.

Supervision & Reporting: Reports to Front Desk Manager

Essential Functions:

Professionally greet all customers
Update all patient demographics at each visit
Verify insurance eligibility and insurance card each visit
Answer the telephone and be responsible for related activities
Listen to patient and direct call to the appropriate person
Schedule patient appointments with providers
Follow appropriate steps to forward calls to the answering service at lunch and at the end of each day
Take accurate messages with appropriate detail
Schedule, reschedule and confirm patient appointments
Scan documents in to EHR, as needed
Collect and post copayments
Collect and post payments for non-covered items sold
Collect and post POA’s for account balances
Verify referrals are in place for HMO patients
Handle initial patient complaints
Balance collected monies nightly
Keep waiting room clean and orderly
Will be cross trained to cover other areas
Follows all policies and protocols of the Clinical Director, Billing Manager/Billing Director and Front Desk Manager

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.


Qualified Applicant should have at least 1 year experience in a medical office environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Knowledge of GE-Centricity practice management software and EHR beneficial but not required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software beneficial but not required.
Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, team-members, and other co-workers.
Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology
Customer Service Oriented

Environmental/Working Conditions: Medical office environment.

Work hours: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using computer keyboard. Responsibilities, skills and working conditions may change as needs arise.
