THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position provides administrative for medical records and the compliance of proper medical records requests and medical records processing, as it is one of the most important areas of a medical office and clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures medical records and the compliance of proper medical records requests and medical records processing, as it is one of the most important areas of a medical office and clinic.
Scans of records into the patient charts.
Gathers, processes, and maintains patient medical records and reporting patient information following all health standards.
Ensures that medical records are maintained in a manner compliant with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the medical services system.
Processes for medical records that come through the electronic faxes and then importing it into the patient’s charts appropriately.
Performs patient representative and conducts day to day front office functions that can involve check in and check out, insurance verifications, appointment scheduling and answering phone calls during the clinic.
Checks mail and takes mail to mail room.
Responsible for sending appointment data to Tavoca – appointment reminder company.
Schedules and sends reminder letters for patient appointments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of billing experience; OR Associate’s Degree and one (1) year of experience. Knowledge of Episodes of Care and MIPS required. (Certified coding experience preferred).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to learn Centricity Electronic Medical Records / Practice Management (EMR/PM).
Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain keen attention to detail, proficiency with word processing programs, calculator, hospital based EMR.
Proficient skills in ICD10 and CPT coding.
Basic skills in computer data entry.
Excellent telephone skills.
