Job Description :
Reviews import documentation and bond application forms, sends packing instructions to warehouses and suppliers, prepares sales documents for sample exports, verifies invoices, follows up on supplier payments and responds to inquiries regarding international shipping. Prepare / process air or ocean import/export shipments. Understands international shipping terms, laws and has knowledge of HTS code management, along with knowledge of exclusion requests.
Monitors the timely delivery of international shipments to meet production and/or delivery demands.
Oversees outgoing international shipment activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.
Responsible for all international freight related activity in support of company locations.
Maintaining the detailed international shipment tracking log.
Develops and maintains HTS code tracking system for international parts.
Generation of export/import documentation for all international shipments in compliance with all relevant regulations and collaborate with the freight forwarder to establish a valid shipping rate.
Preparing products for import/export, including working with other departments to gather data elements needed for imports/exports, maintaining imported/exported products database.
Responsible for customs bond paperwork being up to date through surety company.
Experience with working with materials group, identify and recommend shipping changes to improve costs.
Work with customs broker and freight forwarders on inbound shipments, managing process for necessary documentation and details needed to clear shipments.
Responsibility of tracking and fixing shipping errors.
Work in conjunction with logistics analyst to understand supply chain risk and develop countermeasures.
Assess and recommend ideal international shipping methods and/or routings or carriers to meet annual logistics savings targets.
Maintain accurate records on all container shipments, along with LCL and Air.
Work with logistics analysts / materials group to develop new strategies that make the supply chain more efficient and organized
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Analytics and/or Business management, operations or similar field.
Master’s degree is a plus but not required.
Supply chain management certification is a plus but not required.
5 -7 years of proven experience in the logistics industry or related industry.
Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably tier 1 automotive related.
Ability to communicate effectively interdepartmentally and externally with suppliers, freight forwarders and others.
Ability to respond effectively and in a timely manner to departmental needs, focusing on customer service.
Strong analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude and quantitative skills.
Working knowledge of international freight management software.
Consensus building skills: must know when to compromise and when to be assertive.
Independent and organized work style: Effectively manage time and prioritize work load, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines.
Strong written/verbal communication skills; good listening skills; ability to facilitate; a team player who demonstrates the ability to relate to employees at all levels of the Company and who is sensitive to cultural differences. Experience in working with multinational management team.
Approachable, inspires trust and confidence. Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to thrive within a matrix organizational structure.
Strong PC skills/aptitude. Intermediate Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
