The Role Itself
New Vista is currently seeking a patient account specialist to provide support for all aspects of insurance claim follow up and denials.
Duties may include:
1. Manage accounts receivable data ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
2. Update corrected patient demographic data and insurance information into the medical software system.
3. Keep updated on all billing and benefit changes for insurance payers.
4. Process rejection of electronic EDI reports and electronic payer remits.
5. Communicate with insurance payers, government payers and third parties as a representative of NewVista to ensure accurate reimbursement of hospital claims.
6. Work as a liaison between NewVista and payers to determine billing and reimbursement inconsistencies.
7. File technical appeals with payers based on billing and coding errors.
8. Attend payer seminars for continuing education in billing and accounts receivable.
9. Effectively communicate with medical facility staff, patients, and/or insurance payers as needed.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites for this position:

Positive Attitude!

High School Diploma

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to prioritize and complete designated tasks in a timely manner.

Ability to be cross-trained in other areas of the revenue cycle and other billing systems.

Ability to perform accurate arithmetical functions involving whole numbers and percentages.

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

Previous revenue cycle, healthcare accounts receivable experience preferred.

Experience using a medical billing software system preferred.

Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT codes, and mental health billing practices preferred.
