Job Title: Editorial Coordinator
Location: New York
Purpose of the Role
This position is key to delivering the editorial strategy necessary to meet our ambitious goals for the Fully OA journals. The Editorial Coordinator works in close coordination with the Publishing Strategy team and the journal editorial teams. Ideal candidates will be educated to a degree level, or have equivalent experience. Experience working in an office setting is required and familiarity with academic publishing is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities are vital for this role. The successful candidate will report to the Editorial Performance Manager and will cover a variety of tasks across the entire OA portfolio.
Manage ongoing and ad hoc editorial projects under direction of your line manager.
Provide timely and effective support to the project teams, whilst adhering to best practice guidelines and ensuring accurate documentation.
Maintain spreadsheets, data, and reports.
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and performance tracking of Editorial Board Members.
Prepare materials and presentations for meetings.
Assist with new journal launches.
Prepare documentation to support the indexing of journals.
Update journal websites as needed.
Support the team with ad-hoc tasks and requests as needed.
Collaborate on cross-team projects.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
At least 6 months experience in an office setting and/or administrative role
Previous experience within academic publishing desirable
Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and a sharp eye for detail
Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and be able to work on your own initiative
Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems, queries, and opportunities
Have excellent team-working skills to deal with people within the company and externally at all levels
Have excellent networking and presentation skills
Be flexible, proactive and show a commercial/entrepreneurial spirit
Ability to follow instructions and adhere carefully to established procedures
Educated to degree or level or equivalent
