Job Duties

Who Are We?
The Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is a trauma informed care agency focused on implementing our core values and providing support to people with developmental disabilities. We oversee a statewide system of supportive services that focus on ensuring the health and safety, supporting access to community participation, and increasing opportunities for meaningful employment. The Division of Information Technology Services (ITS) is responsible for the safe, efficient and responsible use of technology throughout the agency. ITS provides solutions that support DODD business.
What will you do?
Designs & implements Agency data engineering solutions; designs/plans data platform selection & recommendations, including data modeling and enterprise architecture development; makes decisions affecting configuration of data reporting environments, configures/sets-up data systems, configures integration systems, configures environment-specific storage; installs DBMS software on all nodes; monitors performance, tunes indexes for high performance; configures standby servers; configures & implements log shipping; configures & implements replication. Works with IT Architecture staff, CIO &/or IT Managers to design solutions that meet agency requirements; assists in analysis of the solution design’s business case; authors’ portions of the solution business case. Recommends approach through defining tasks &/or leading meetings relating to design, implementation, operation & ongoing maintenance of databases systems. Issues Tier III resolution.
Understands business intelligence data and database needs; defines the data warehouse/business/database design; implements data warehouses & data marts & databases; implements business intelligence and database tools & user interfaces; implements enterprise reporting, management dashboards & scorecards; implements analytic applications; replicates & transforms data for business intelligence. Develop standards/best practices; creates documentation of installation procedures monitoring procedures, security policies, configuration changes, migration procedures & best practices for development teams.

Conducts performance tuning system configuration running on multiple platforms; tunes data manipulation model. Designs standards for the exchange of data between systems, including data security models. Works with multidimensional models.
Develops database strategies to support business needs. Applies principles, theories, practices & techniques of project planning. Plans & conducts formal mentorship activities for peers &/or lower-level staff via verbal instruction or technical documentation.

Qualifications

Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and implementing high availability solutions, performing solutions design, providing technical Tier III database support, developing project plans with project manager or recommending approach through defining tasks and/or leading meetings relating to design, implementation, operation and ongoing maintenance of databases systems including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and implementing high availability solutions, performing solutions design, providing technical Tier III database support, developing project plans with project manager or recommending approach through defining tasks and/or leading meetings relating to design, implementation, operation and ongoing maintenance of databases systems including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

Or 60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and implementing high availability solutions, performing solutions design, providing technical Tier III database support, developing project plans with project manager or recommending approach through defining tasks and/or leading meetings relating to design, implementation, operation and ongoing maintenance of databases systems including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Skill for: reading comprehension, speaking, service orientation, troubleshooting, critical thinking, using data recovery tools and techniques, complex problem solving, judgment and decision making, assuring quality, identifying and specifying business requirements, lead work, database analysis and evaluation, developing and interpreting policy and strategies governing the planning and delivery of IT services.

Ability to: prepare meaningful, accurate and concise reports, stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT assigned provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues, and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
