The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for Coordinator, Expanded Learning, Job Code 076, TS 522 (260 Days), Salary Range (TBD). Collective Bargaining Unit – none. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Expanded Learning collaboratively develops and implements an ecosystem of transformational learning experiences that connect scholars to their passions, accelerate learning, and differentiate the PK-12 learning experience in the Akron Public Schools. These learning experiences span across all ages and learning styles and take place after school, on weekends, during summer, on campus, off campus, and online. Common to all these programs is that scholars enroll by choice, seeking to excel in their unique interests and passions. Connectors, relationship-builders, and entrepreneurial thinkers will excel with the guidance and facilitation of the Coordinator of Expanded Learning. This position will lead an APS and community-based team in ensuring that families are delighted, programs are fully enrolled, and that scholars’ lives are transformed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Education or related field
Valid teaching license from Ohio Department of Education
3 to 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher
In-depth knowledge of the district mission and vision
Demonstrated excellence in writing and communication
Experience with writing and managing grants
Adept at building and sustaining relationships
Knowledge of College and Career Academies of Akron framework

Desired:

Current Ohio administrative license
Demonstrated use of technology to organize data and display to allow for decision making regarding curriculum, instruction and assessments;
Knowledge of shared leadership strategies and conducting effective team meetings;
Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, staff, parents, students and community;

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Build strong relationships with educators, scholars, staff, community partners and families at all age levels so families feel supported, listened to, and excited by the expanded learning programs.
Scope and guide complex projects such as the launch and operation of after school programs and summer camps as well as supporting enrollment and data collection systems.
Collaboration and triangulation with multiple members of a senior leadership team.
Facilitating opportunities for students to drive the expanded learning offerings and to potentially lead offerings
Applying analytical skills to evaluate options and make difficult decisions in ambiguous situations.
Provides proactive leadership, guidance and coaching to the staff assigned to Expanded Learning department and provides overall planning, organizing, directing, budgeting and staffing for the department
Leads a team through the inspiration of a new idea to the execution of the details.
Leads system development and management to design, improve, and monitor outcomes for expanded learning programs

Facilitates the measurement & evaluation of quality and impact of expanded learning programs
Collaboratively facilitates the development of universal goals and metrics for programming and overall delivery.
Develops professional learning opportunities for staff to deliver upon a high quality standard for expanded learning.
Facilitates the design of expanded learning programs and services for the purpose of improving student outcomes linked to the regular instructional day;
Coordinates with county, city, district staff, principals, teacher leaders, and community partners for the purpose of seamless and clear communication with scholars and families regarding expanded learning opportunities
Assists in the coordination and supports the management of grant funded programs within the district and schools;
Develops data collection and analysis systems for the purpose of ensuring accurate information is reported on scholar outcomes
Establish and maintain partnership/communication with community based organizations, school staff and other collaborators;
This position reports directly to the Director of College and Career Academies
