Responsibilities:

Incident Report Management and Confidential Compliance Hotline

Serves as AAC System Administrator over Incident Report Monitoring and Confidential Hotline software, EthicsPoint, provided by outside vendor, NAVEX Global.
Assigns and coordinates investigative efforts from the corporate level directly with treatment facility CEOs, COOs, Clinical Directors, Quality Assurance and Compliance personnel.
Ensures proper documentation, thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness of compliance related issues entered in the incident reporting software.
Monitors for trending issues both at the facility level and companywide.
Prepares quarterly and annual compliance reports for presentation to the Board of Directors.
Completes HIPAA Breach Notification reports to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Exclusion/Sanction Monitoring

Serves as AAC System Administrator over Exclusion/Sanction Monitoring software, PASSPORT and VENDORPROOF, provided by outside vendor, Provider Trust.
Works with corporate and facility human resources staff to investigate and clear issues within the software for flagged issues of AAC employees, contractors and vendors to ensure licensure status and compliance with federal, state, and payor standards.
Ensures the timeliness and accuracy of AAC uploads of employee, contractor and vendor information within the software for accurate monitoring.

Compliance Audits of Treatment Facilities

Partners with the Director of IT Security to conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits at AAC treatment facilities in eight states.
Conducts high level or sensitive companywide compliance investigations when necessary at the direction of the Sr. VP of Human Resources or Corporate CEO.
Identifies best practices observed from facility to facility for potential companywide implementation

Subpoena and Court Order Verification for HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2 Compliance

Reviews incoming subpoenas and court orders for AAC Corporate and all treatment facilities relating to client medical records requests to ensure compliance.
Reviews non-AAC form signed authorizations for medical records release to ensure compliance.
Issues denial letters to attorneys/issuing authorities regarding non-compliant subpoenas, orders, or forms with instructions on how to make the process compliant.

Works Closely with AAC Management within the Corporate Call Center

Researches compliance related questions from call center staff and recommends best practices for implementation.
Periodically reviews call center recordings of employees and clients to determine the veracity of client complaints, insurance and payment issues, and in-network/out of network discussions.

Works with AAC Billing and Accounts Payable Regarding Refunds

Investigates refund requests due to allegations of issues with patient care or lack of promised services rendered.
Audits outstanding/pending refunds due to early withdrawal from treatment (self-pay) or insurance co-pay overpayments.
Coordinates complaints with Accounts Payable, Billing, and former clients.
Qualifications:

Education/ Experience:

Education level: Bachelors Degree (Required) Masters Degree (Preferred)
Experience in Compliance or Compliance Related Field and/or Investigations
Specific skills: Knowledge of MS Office
Personal Characteristics (detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to handle confidential information)
Noise Level (if applicable)

Certifications and Licenses:

Must possess or obtain within 1 year of employment, Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the national Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA)
Must possess or obtain within 2 years of employment, Certification in Healthcare Privacy (CHPC) by the national Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA)

Supervisory Responsibility
: Supervises the Compliance Manager and two Compliance Specialists.

Other Work Requirements:

Travel Percentage: 10%
