Job Description :
The Epic Owner (EO) is critical to Cigna’s growth strategy by delivering solutions to enable Strategic Priorities. An Epic Owner is responsible for shepherding one or more Portfolio or Program Epics through the end to end delivery process within the Provider Value Stream. Epic Owners works with a cross section of members of the Provider Value Stream to define, decompose and refine Portfolio and Program Epics. The Epic Owner is responsible for maintaining a roadmap for each Portfolio/Program Epic (or group of epics) along with key milestones, providing status reporting and assisting with issue resolution and escalation. The Epic Owner works directly with key stakeholders to help realize the implementation of the Epic, including Technology and Business Operational Readiness.
Partners with the Strategic Epic Owner to understand priorities and provide input into prioritization discussions for Portfolio and Program Epics.
Works with Solution Managers and Product Management to initiate the decomposition activities necessary to realize the business benefits of the Epic ensuring focus is on priority value delivery; including cross- value stream priority and facilitation in support of the Epic.
Ongoing responsibilities for stewardship and follow-up of initiated Epics, ensuring the defined success criteria is realized, including Technology and Business Operational Readiness.
Works across the Provider Value Stream and with supporting partners to define the Epic and its potential benefits.
Responsible for ensuring that all of the necessary information for the Epic is entered into Jira, including the Lean Business Case, as well as all other supporting elements within the Epic
Works with the delivery teams to size the Epic and provide input to the economic prioritization.
Provides guidance to the ART(s) on the Epic context of the target Features.
Participates in Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demo, and Solution Demo when critical to the Epic.
Reports on progress of the Epic to the Strategic Epic Owner.
Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience in Healthcare environment required.
Prior management experience preferred, with demonstrated leadership skills.
Experience with Agile development, official Agile certification preferred, and able to manage Epics within Jira.
Strong business knowledge across claim processing, data management, network design and claim pricing. Technical knowledge is also needed to a lesser extent across these disciplines.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with partners to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions and strategies, including effective presentation skills.
Flexibility to change course based on business needs.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Relationship builder and Enterprise thinker with proven ability to influence and capable of developing strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
Strong influencer and collaborator, working through others and building relationships within the organization.
